Emotional expressiveness and technical brilliance, Ross’ love of the ‘big orchestra sound’ and music of all kinds; packed with vivid youthfulness have brought him to the attention of the music world as a conductor of the next generation. In September 2021 Ross joined the Conducting Staff of the San Francisco Symphony. As well as being a Colburn Artist, Ross is a part of the London Philharmonia's Emerging Artists programme and will debut with the Philharmonia in May 2022.
Previously a student of the world renowned “Maestro of Maestros” Jorma Panula at the Panula Academy, The Finnish-British conductor is now pursuing his Conducting Diploma at the Colburn Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles, where he studies under the guidance of Esa-Pekka Salonen in the Negaunee Conducting Program as a Salonen Fellow.
During the 2020/21 Season Ross has worked as an assistant to Esa-Pekka Salonen with the Philharmonia, NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester, Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre de Paris, Houston Symphony Orchestra, Philadelphia Orchestra and the San Francisco Symphony.
